Singapore To Brunei.

Our flight's at 10pm. However, we had to check out of the apartment by 12pm, since they were full up, so we had to check into Royal Plaza to wait out the time. Did a spot of shopping. Typical eh?!

Blood Test.

A final early morning blood test before flying home tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Wednesdays At The Haematology Centre.

Phoooey! My Hb's down today at 8.1g/dl. I knew I'm not fully cured yet....

Given a 20000U Recormon jab, to what? To tide me over until my Hb is way down low again? Everyone is baffled. I'm beginning to hear the words Rare, Unique, Unusual.... all bad news for me.....

My poor mom... I know she hates feeling helpless, so she's begun to resort to, erm, how shall I say it, to alternative means. Religious shall we say? Not unusual in these parts.. quite normal really. Depends on who you go to I guess.... I just never thought it'd happen to me see...

She asked for my brother's mom in law's help, which I must say has created a bit of tension with my husband back home. Great! Just what I need! Another thing to stress me out! A good thing I have my mom in law's support with this "thing". I mean I can see both my mom's and my husband's point of view, but when you're as sick as I am, you want to try all the avenues available as long as it is legal and importantly not against our religious beliefs.

Tuesdays With Morrie, I mean Dr. V.

Well, it was nice to have 4 days without going to the hospital.

My Hb's gone way up to 9.5g/dl, so Dr. V. seems to be convinced that I'm cured. I'm a little doubtful though. I mean I'm happy and I feel great and all that, except, I think it might have been the Recormon jab the day before my blood test that might have boosted my red cells production. So, I think this is what the medical profession calls a False Positive!

Dr. V. says I'm well enough to go home (I hope so...). Plus my Creatinine is pretty good at 83.

To reduce FK506 to 4.5mg b.d.

BP - 119/72mmHg.
61.5kg

Tuesdays With Dr. V.

My Hb's gone up since last week at 9.1g/dl.
Creatinine - 95.

To reduce FK dose to 5.5mg bd.

BP 101/68 mmHg.

MRI Scan.

Had to fast this morning for my scan at 9am. Dr. Goh said, if I chose to have the MRI scan instead of the CT scan, I wouldn't need to have contrast studies done (ie. no need for an IV line, that is, no needle and no pain). However, the nurse led me to this little room to have an iv line in anyway. Apparently, they do need to inject contrast material into me to rule out the thymoma! Urrggghh!! And couldn't that guy inject that bloody cold stuff any slower!! It hurts man!

Although this isn't my first MRI Scan, the experience wasn't any less daunting than the first time I'd had it done. The loud banging sound is still as disturbing, and everytime they ask me to hold my breath, I feel as if my lungs are gonna burst. Has my lung capacity gone down or something? I'm sure I breathed in before the technician gave me the ok to. Who bloody cares?! I ain't the Man from Atlantis!

Another blood test in the morning. Continued with my IVIG course I started 2 weeks ago. Also had a Recormon 20 000U jab. Arrgghh! Too many needles!

Back To Singapore.

Our flight is at 9pm, so we'll be arriving pretty late in Singapore.

There were reps from the Brunei High Comm. waiting for us at the airport to send us to the apartment. They also arranged my one time transport to S.G.H. tomorrow for my 11am appointment with Dr. V.
