Lemme Out!

Ok... I'm being discharged. Thank God!

My hubby managed to persuade the doctor to let me out of hospital during the day over the weekend. So after breakfast, and after my iv antibiotics, we go straight home. Aaaah... good to be back in your own room, lying on your own bed, on your own pillow, on your own bed sheets... and no more measuring out pee volumes! Although we did have to be back right after dinner for my IV Antibiotics. It really hurts when they inject the stuff into my iv line.

The doctors don't know why I came down with the fever. They say it's just because of the immunosuppresants I'm on, I can't fight all the nasty bugs. They didn't think I was infected by my brother in law, who's down with chicken pox (he's been relegated to staying in my brother's room at the back of the house). Heheh! Poor guy! He must be pretty bored! Everyone has to make sure that we are nowhere near each other in the house.

Hating Hospital.

Urrgghh!! Got my period today. Such a drag. What with having to collect my urine everytime I pee and measure it. Ok... u get the (not so pleasant) picture.

Oh yeah! Must drink at least 2 litres of fluid to flush out the infection. Must measure out everything I drink.

I feel better already. I want out!

Back in Hospital.

Great! I've managed to land myself in hospital again with what the medical world likes to call a Febrile episode. To you and me, I have a fever.

Went to the ER after my mom called the transplant coordinator. It was such a struggle, I could barely move, let alone sit up in bed.

Put on a drip immediately, (urrghh!! more needles!), but didn't really care much what happened after that, I just wanted to lie down and sleep.

Blood Test.

I hate these early morning tests. I need to have my blood taken to check the levels of tacrolimus in my body, but need to have my blood taken before my 8am dose, therefore ideally around 7.45am.

However, the bleeding room only opens at 8am, and by the time we get there, there's already a long queue, which is moving slower than a geriatric snail! At this rate I'm not gonna be able to take my FK until 9.30am! And that means I'm only gonna be able to have breakfast an hour later, which is gonna make me real hungry, and you do not want to be around when I'm hungry!!

Thanksgiving....

Had a huge gathering at home today for a thanksgiving ceremony meant for my hubby's and mine safe return after the operation. There were loads of people! I hope nobody was sick, cos I don't want to catch anything right now in my vulnerable state.

Swollen Ankles?

I had my first hospital appointment in Brunei today. Have been worried about my swollen ankles, hope my kidney is working.

The dr. said it was nothing to worry about, and that the swelling will eventually go down. Ok...

Flying Home!

Left the apartment around 10/11am. Man! We do have tons of stuff to lug back home, our trolleys made a long line during check-in!, but since my mom managed to upgrade us to Business class, we have more baggage allowance, plus we also have another 15kg extra from the government sponsor, so it was ok.

The flight was at 1.40pm, so we arrived in Brunei just before 4pm. Everyone thought I'd gained weight! Eeek! So true! There were tons of people back at the house, and after a brief prayer, everyone buggered off home.

I just wanted to rest. I miss our room!

Last Day in Singapore.

Tomorrow leaving for home at last. Today is the last full day in Singapore. Will have been here exactly 6 weeks. I'm glad we're going home tomorrow. Don't think I can stay a day longer.

Accumulated a ton of stuff over the month. Just hoping we wouldn't have excess baggage.

Wasn't planning on going out today, but my mom wanted to go to D.F.S. (again!) as she thinks she might have left something she bought behind, but just couldn't find it unfortunately. So we went to Tangs, but only managed to get some snacks and a top and pants.

Felt knackered, so left for the apartment around 6.30pm. Finished packing in the evening.

Last Hospital Appointment.

Woke up around 9am for breakfast before getting ready for my hospital appointment.

Met Sean and gave her her gift, then took photos, then went to see Prof. Chris Cheng (surgeon) to pass him his present & take photos. Plus a couple of other doctors and finally went in to see Dr. Vathsala.

Thankfully, my blood test was A-OK and Dr. Vathsala seemed happy to let me go, with a final word on giving it a full year before thinking of starting a family and to see her first. Sounds good to us!

Left the hospital for the last time after collecting my prescription. Went shopping with my mom to Far East Plaza and D.F.S. My mom got me my Estee Lauder facial care products and then my mom, hubby and I left for Centrepoint to catch the Robinson's sale. Bought myself a scarf clip and a brooch for my sis in law, plus baby clothes for my cousin's baby girl. Also got myself some kitchen stuff (oil dispenser for olive oil and tea plunger for my flower and berry tea).

Had a really, really late lunch/dinner at 7pm at Sanur Restaurant. Famished! Managed to get a couple more recipe books from Times bookshop. Went back to the apartment while my mom and Alice went to buy durian.

My hubby's aunt and uncle came for a visit, then mum's friend and family also came. They all left aroud 10pm and we all had durian!

We started major packing at 11pm and didn't finish until about 1½ hours later. Phew! So tired. Gonna sleep now.

Last Week In Singapore?

Didn't hear the alarm go off, woke up around 6.30am to leave for the hospital for my blood test. Went back to the apartment right after (but not before getting me a couple of chicken pies from Polar!)

My dad gave my hubby and me a thousand bucks each! (Oh! Happy Days!!) Immediately went out shopping. Hopped on the apartment's 12pm shuttle bus to Shaw Centre.

Dropped in to Isetan, bought myself gold diamante sandals on sale for $120, then proceeded to spend $370 at Marks & Spencer's, $160 at Esprit, $200 at John Little plus $50 on miscellaneous stuff. That's $900!! *sharp intake of breath* Not only can I NOT control my appetite, I can't control my spending! Better stop spending so much (she keeps telling herself!), so decided to go home after leaving Plaza Singapura.

I was the first to walk into the apartment, and there was this HUGE bouquet of flowers and basket of fruit (the biggest I'd ever seen or had the pleasure to receive).

Stuffed ourselves with cherries, lychees and grapes at 1am! There were also mangoes, Korean apples, plums, pears, big oranges, mini oranges, custard apples, packs and packs of fruit, it filled the entire dining table!! Mom plans on bringing some of the more expensive fruit back home! Such a pleasure to eat, they were so fresh and juicy sweet.

Lazy Sunday.

Don't plan on going out today. My uncle came today around noon to take us out to lunch, but I had to regretfully & respectfully decline as I was anxious about tomorrow's blood test. He really insisted on me going, but if I plan to leave for Brunei on Thursday, I'd better watch my diet.

I did feel bad about not going, but I had to be tough! Sorry! They ended up having Chinese at Chijmes at the cost of another S$1000++. (That's 3 meals at a cost of more than S$3000 in as many days!!)

Stayed in front of the TV the whole time, reading The French Laundry Cookbook. My grand uncle called to say that they were leaving for KL the next day.

Made myself an egg sandwich for dinner, as couldn't stomach the thought of having the greasy fried rice mom brought back.

.....Hello 2005!

Happy New Year!!!

Spent a quiet day in the apartment, watching TV, reading my books and of course eating! Raining all day. Took a nap in the afternoon. Then my grand uncle came to visit around 5pm, and left after 6pm. Got ready for dinner invite to mom's Singaporean cousins. Stayed for about 1½ hours, then left around 10pm after the obligatory picture taking session.

Watched Sex & The City finale episodes. Can't believe I still feel hungry. Can't wait for breakfast tommorow.
